Concussions and Hockey - An Honest Discussion
StopConcussions, Global Director
Shoot for a Cure, Co-Chair
"It's not what you collect along your journey...championships, scoring races, trophies, money, cars...but what you give back, that will be your legacy."
Former star European hockey player, coach, and general manager, Kerry Goulet now focuses all of his efforts into generating awareness of concussions and neurotrauma. Kerry suffered three documented concussions while playing and knows first-hand the challenges of coping with this injury. He has dedicated much of his off ice energy to charitable causes, with his main focus on concussions and spinal cord injuries in sport. His experience and expertise position him as an educational speaker, and he travels the world on a mission to stop concussions and spinal cord injuries.
“What I have is four documented concussions dating back to 1997 but that doesn’t tell the whole story. I started playing hockey at 5 years old...”
Keith Primeau played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings, Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers. He was captain of the Philadelphia Flyers until his fourth documented concussion forced him into retirement.
In addition to being a co-founder of StopConcussions, he helped author the book, Concussed.
We are proud to also showcase an outstanding line-up of
Okanagan-based BRAINx speakers.
